Trainee Sales Executive 
  
Salary & Benefits:  
  • Up to £29,120 
  • 25 days holiday + bank holidays

Location: Kings Lynn, Norfolk
Hours: 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday

Our client is the largest distributor of branded electrical products to the trade sector and serves both to the trade and to the public from over 400 locations in the UK & Ireland with over 4000 employees. This role offers an exciting opportunity to progress within the business and to be a part of their continued success.  ​

The Role 

This opportunity is ideal for candidates with strong A-Level results or higher who are looking to start a career in business-to-business customer service and sales management within the Electrical Wholesale industry. The 24-month training program includes:

  • Company history, business model, products, and market overview 
  • Ongoing on-the-job training with mentoring from experienced managers 
  • Professional sales training 
  • External training on influencing, negotiation, and presentation skills 
  • Successful candidates have the potential to progress into External Sales and Profit Centre Management roles. 

Person & skills required
  • The ideal candidate should have at least an A-Level education, preferably in business, and possess a strong natural curiosity and eagerness to learn. 
  • They should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a proactive and problem-solving attitude, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. 
  • A full, clean UK driving license is required for potential client visits. 
  • Previous customer service experience is also beneficial.

 What you will cover 
 First 6 months 
  • Based in a profit centre - you will start your training in a warehouse learning about the products, operating procedures, understanding the market, customers and suppliers. 
  • You will then work your way through various departments including the trade counter to develop the skills needed for long term success. 
  • Around month 3 you will start selling. Calling lapsed/dormant accounts and self-sourcing new accounts 
  • Begin your industry leading sales training programme through BMS; designed to give you the skill set and structures to be successful and confident in your role. 
  • Develop the imperative skills to further your career in sales 

Next 6-12 months 
  • Consistently start bringing in sales and revenue 
  • Begin to learn and understand the full sales process 
  • Further develop a relationship with more senior sales colleagues to gain an understanding of the potential next step in your career 
  • Continue to develop and grow in confidence and ability with BMS sales training. 

Next 12 months and onwards 
  • Move out of the Graduate Sales Trainee role 
  • Work towards sales targets 
  • Become an essential part of the external sales team out in the field 
  • Further career development opportunities into management exist for those who can demonstrate success and ability to develop long lasting customer relationships
