The Person
An honest, well-organised, enthusiastic, and proactive individual is required for a site-based role focusing on
interpreting technical drawings and carrying out 1st and 2nd fix fire alarm installations on construction projects. The position involves close collaboration with the project management team and offers strong opportunities for training, development, and career progression. Most work will take place on sites across London and the Southeast.
• Technically astute – An Engineering or associated degree would be an advantage
• Enthusiastic & able to work under own initiative and as part of a team
• Friendly and Approachable with a proactive manner
• Strong attention to detail
• Conversant with Microsoft Office and MS Project software packages
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to discuss detailed matters with people with limited exposure to technical detail
• Full driving licence would be beneficial and a willingness to travel if required
• White, Gold or Black CSCS card would be an advantage
• AutoCAD experience would be an advantage
Key Accountabilities
• Install primary and secondary containment systems
• Carry out 1st fix and 2nd fix cabling
• Final fix and address fire alarm equipment
• Diagnose and resolve installation-related faults
• Coordinate delivery, collection, and off-hire of materials and plant
• Maintain accurate records and ensure as-built drawings are kept updated
• Support communication of updates to RAMS and quality documentation
• Assist the project team with QA checks, as-built information, and snagging
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients and colleagues
• Support all phases of project delivery—from installation through commissioning and servicing
Essential Requirements
• Proven experience in 1st and 2nd fix fire alarm installation on construction sites
• Based in or able to work daily in London and the South East
• Able to work independently and as part of a team
• Friendly, approachable, organised, and proactive
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to self-check work
• Full, clean UK driving licence and own vehicle
• Technically minded with problem-solving ability
• GCSEs (Grade C/4 or above) in Maths, Science, and English
• Desirable Qualifications & Experience
• Manufacturer-specific fire alarm training
• Industry-recognised fire alarm installation and maintenance training
• Knowledge or understanding of fire detection and suppression systems
• Valid CSCS, PASMA, or IPAF card
